Which are the world’s largest snakes? Currently, the world’s longest and largest snakes are the reticular pythons which can grow up to nine meters long and a diameter of up to one meter. They are not venomous but depend on their powerful muscles to constrict and crush their prey into pulp before swallowing whole.

Reticular pythons are the longest snakes

Currently, the reticular pythons (Python reticulates) are the world’s largest snakes and the longest at that. These giant snakes are famed to grow up to a length of 28 feet, slightly shorter than 9 meters. They are excellent swimmers and normally constrict their prey, snuffing out any signs of life.
